Reverend Gary Davis was a master of fingerstyle guitar. A contemporary of blues greats, Blind Boy Fuller, and Blind Blake, Davis influenced artists like Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, David Bromberg, and Stefan Grossman. His songs were covered by Nick Drake, Townes Van Zandt, Taj Mahal, Hot Tuna, and Jackson Browne. Davis also taught his style of fingerpicking to David Bromberg, Stefan Grossman, Dave Van Ronk, Ernie Hawkins and Rory Block.
